Pure PTFE With Kevlar Fiber Corner Braided Packing

PTFE Aramid is a super combination Cross Braided Packing specially designed with lubricated pure PTFE on the faces and special yellow synthetic fibre filaments on the corners. Due to its multifibre dense and homogeneous construction the packing is most suited to all fluids including corrosive chemicals, even under extremely high pressure conditions. The packing has exceptionally good dimensional stability, creep resistance and non-toxic. The packing will not provide extraneous stresses on plungers which damage both packing and plunger under high pressure conditions.

Aramid Kevlar Corner Packing has a high degree of resiliency and consistency of volume and hence avoids frequent gland adjustments. Aramid (Kevlar) Low thermal expansion characteristics under actual operating conditions reduce mechanical pressure against shaft sleeves to minimise abrasion effect.

Preparation before sealing packing

Removing old fillers Checking the stuffing box is the key to pre-installation preparation.

1. Before using the packing, remove all the old packing with special tools and wipe the packing box clean.

2. Observe the damage and eccentricity of each part of the stuffing box. The damaged stem, bushing and stuffing box can affect the packing performance.

3. Check if other components are still applicable. Replace all broken parts.

Seal the packing to choose the right packing

There are two things that must be considered when choosing a packing.

1. The working condition requirements should be consistent with the packing performance. The packing that best meets the requirements can be selected based on the relevant technical data. If in doubt, please consult your sales representative.

2. The packing size must be correctly selected according to the sealing requirements. To determine the cross section, use the following formula to measure:

Cross section = (filler box diameter - stem diameter) / 2

Cutting and installation of sealed packing

Select the appropriate packing and cut the packing ring of the required length with a cutting machine. If there is no packing cutting machine, cut according to the packing length L=(shaft diameter d+pad width s) X1.07X丌. On the general rotating shaft, it is cut with 90° straight and the valve is cut with 45°. Never attempt to determine the length by wrapping the packing around the stuffing box. Or wrap the packing around a tube of the same O.D. as the stem, and press it tightly, but do not stretch the packing. It is then cut into a sample loop and checked to see if it fills the space correctly and there is no gap at its interface. The sample ring can then be used as a standard to cut other packing rings. If the finished product is finished on a flat surface, if the packing is soft or easily deformed, a small tape can be made according to the sample loop, and the remaining packing ring can be made according to the rope.

Rotary and reciprocating pump start

Before the operation, first test the operation under no-load condition, observe whether there is any abnormality, and then officially drive, carefully observe, whether there is pressure or false or too tight, resulting in serious leakage or burned filler. The key to starting the pump is to make sure it leaks at the beginning. If the packing is initially tightened to a leak-free condition, the filler will burn and cause a leak.

After installing the packing ring, tighten the bolts and verify that the cover is properly engaged with the stuffing box face. Once the bolts are tightened, ensure that the bolts are evenly stressed.
