PTFE gasket three external factors of seal failure
1. The temperature of the application site will cause PTFE gasket seal failure.
Temperature has a great influence on the sealing performance of PTFE gasket. The research shows that the elastic and plastic deformation of PTFE spacer increases with the increase of temperature, while the resistance decreases with the increase of temperature, while the creep increases with the increase of temperature, and with the increase of temperature, the aging, weightlessness, creep and relaxation phenomena of PTFE spacer will become more and more serious, and the sealing performance of PTFE gasket will naturally be affected, which is prone to PTFE gasket sealing failure.
2. Sealing Medium will cause PTFE gasket sealing failure.
Due to the diversity of chemical properties of chemical products delivered by the pump, in order to increase the combustion value of the fuel oil or change its combustion products, some small amount of additives are added to the fuel oil to change some properties of the fuel oil, therefore, it is not easy to choose the PTFE spacer material suitable for the conveying medium. If the PTFE gasket is not chosen properly, PTFE gasket leakage will easily occur due to PTFE spacer erosion during the use process.
3. The use pressure will cause PTFE gasket seal failure.
In order to achieve the sealing effect, it is necessary to exert enough pressure on the sealing PTFE spacer, which can cause elastic or plastic deformation, thus filling the uneven sealing surface, however, when assembling, it is easy to crush PTFE spacer because it cannot reach the required pressing force of PTFE spacer, or because the pressing stress of PTFE spacer is too large, thus losing the resilience ability and unable to compensate for the temperature, the separation of flange surface caused by pressure leads to a sharp increase in leakage rate.
